As a Catholic it saddens me that a member of the Mystical Body of Christ has left the bosom of the Church to embrace another religion. Do you not know that Catholics are united by grace and that this bond transcends bloodlines and mere earthly considerations? Perhaps you have sought that sense of community which Islam teaches through its doctrine of the Ummah and did not find it amongst the Catholics you associated with. Catholics who know their faith, who love their faith, who desire to actually live their faith fully and without compromise surely understand the doctrine of the Mystical Body of Christ and perhaps you did not see any Catholics actually striving for perfection and striving for that union with God which Jesus Christ exhorted us to follow “Be perfect as your Heavenly Father is perfect”.

What you have left behind is a faith which challenges the individual to become holy and which has the means to effect this transformation in the individual’s soul which, and you surely should have understood this, through the sacraments.

Perhaps it was the failure of Catholic priests to preach Christ, to preach that Catholics must be utterly different from what the secular world so loves and holds dear, to preach the true love of God which is not mere sentimentalism, to preach how the saints are our example in this valley of tears, and perhaps it was their failure to actually live Christ-like lives that made it easier for you to leave the Church. Of course, I do not know what you went through but again my soul is saddened that you would leave the Catholic Church for Islam which in so many ways lacks that understanding of the true love of God.

I shall pray for you, and it would be uncharitable on my part if I did not do so, that you return to the Catholic Church.
